The disadvantages of wikis are:

It can become hard to keep it organized as text is constantly added therefore the wikis can become messy.
It can be hard to see who has edited what information, a way around this could be for everyone to use a different colour of font.
There may be security issues as accounts could be hacked allowing unauthorised people access
There may be disputes and disagreements over what should go on the wiki and arbitration may be needed
As it can be edited by anyone all content is subjective and may be influenced by opinion rather than fact
People may not have the necessary IT skills to fully participate in a wiki
